Counterfeit $10

It's seems as if I tried to pass counterfeit money at Wawa Today. I grabbed a Turkey Club Bagel sandwich, a 20 oz Pepsi and a Chocolate Frosted Donut and quickly made my way to the counter. Total was around $6.40. I didn't want to count through the rolled up dollar bills in my pocket, but I did find a $10 and handed it to the cashier. She immediately put the 10 in a machine under the cash register. It didn't work.

She walked over to a second machine. Again, it didn't work. She asks me if I had another bill. I thought back to the Larry Sanders episode I just watched last night. (I can't tell you how many shows of television I have watched in the last couple of days that has been referenced immediately. Last night i also watched 5 minutes of a Becker episode and today I was celebrating his birthday on the "Who's the Biggest Celebrity Born on Today" segment of today's Proof of Concept Podcast.

Anyway, the machine wouldn't take the money. She said it was too green. I looked at the 10 dollar bill and said, isn't money SUPPOSED to be green? Then I noticed that the bill says... "WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND". I immediately panicked thinking this was a phony bill. Then I noticed the series on the bill, 1950. This bill was 55 years old. When I said, the bill was from 1950, the woman said, "What?" And gave me my change. You gotta love Wawa.
