2005 Week 5 -- Phillies Weekly

Editors Note: Each Sunday Night (Or maybe Monday) Inside the Dugout will give you the wrap-up on this week's baseball season.

Treading Water (3-4)

The Phillies ended the week on a high note taking 2 out of 3 from the struggling Cubbies. Unfortunately, the offense has sputtered and Friday's win was pure luck. Luck I'll take, but the offensive struggles, I can't. With Thome and Lofton on the DL, and most of the team struggling, the Phils really need to do better than just tread water. As the rest of the division keeps winning records. If the Phillies were in any other division, they could be contending. But here they are just struggling. Right now, this is where the hitting guru needs to take charge. Or else it is going to be a long summer.

What's Next?

To win this division the Phillies really need to do some damage against division foes. But in the mean time, it might be best to right the ship by beating up on the Brewers and the Reds. The Phils will be in Milwaukee for 3 and then come home to Philly for a 4 game set against the Reds.
